WANT

Want is a four letter word.

We all want things.  Sometimes they're things we need.  Sometimes they're just things to have.  They may be things we deserve or don't... things we expect or that may surprise us.  Wanting, itself, is not bad.  How we go about getting those things... what we are willing to do to get them... what we can accept about ourselves and those things if we cannot.  What those things are worth to us.

What do you want?

The science fiction TV series Babylon 5 had an agent for an alien power asking this question of others, in an effort to determine which race to back in an upcoming war.  The Centauri, who eventually gained the support of the alien power, answered in part, "I want to stop running through my life like a man late for an appointment, afraid to look back or to look forward. I want us to be what we used to be. I want it all back the way that it was."  But "the way it was" is not all it is cracked up to be - a different Centauri later expresses that some things come at too high a price.

What do you want?  What is it worth to you?

  1. Oh duh, I just realized that your facebook posts were longer than the first sentence. Well, I'm subscribed to your rss feed now.

B was reading over my shoulder while M was teasing him, he turned to M and said,"Quit is a four letter word."

Yes, with the launch as a blog, I'm adding additional comment, at least "after the break".
