STAR TREK

Star Trek are four letter words that boldly go where none have gone before.

45 years ago tonight, at 8:30 Eastern time, Earth was introduced to a television show unlike anything it had seen before.  Over the next three seasons, Star Trek entertained viewers and challenged peoples notions of science and society.

Some of my first memories include Star Trek in them.  Many of my fondest ones relate to it as well.  I can remember my father sitting in his brown armchair, watching it on the television.  I can remember my grandmother taking me to the first movie.  I remember playing "Star Trek" in the schoolyard with my friends (I was Spock, thankyouverymuch).  I wrote a computer game based on Star Trek.  I remember the night Star Trek: The Next Generation first aired.

Star Trek was always about entertainment and education.  About inspiration and innovation.  About force and finesse.  About action and appreciation.  May we take its lessons to heart and, each of us, strive to go boldly where none have gone before.

  1. Oh yeah! In the the recycled tire climbing area. I was either Uhura or Ilea - not so many girl's roles to pick from.
